Go away! I am from here and can’t find a place t live because of the mass amounts of people moving here. yes, there has always been people moving here, but it is now out of control. we don’t need any more damn hipsters, or Californians!!!
I dunno. My main concern was whether the skateparks in Portland would be a positive part after moving here. And it was worth it for sure. But no sales tax, not being able to pump your, slow drivers, annoying hipsters and cyclists kind of shadows the skate scene here for me. But Ground Kontrol does have the game Burger Time. And that makes me happy
Well, have some solace in that the surface speed limits are about 20-30% faster than most places, even if the freeways are about 20-30% slower. But the gas thing…why would you want to pay more money to do the gas station’s job for them?
Two thoughts for a list like this.
one, the food carts. If you have ever been downtown during the day, and needed a quick bit to eat, they fast, affordable and delicious. Two, Voodoo Donuts. A trademark of Portland’s wierdness, Everytime I leave Oregon, someone always asks me if I’ve been (apparently there was some tv special on donuts that everyone watched without me).
Actually, SF has some of the best water around, straight from Hetch-Hetchy – look it up. All regional water sources have a distinct ‘taste’, or lack thereof…it just takes some time to acclimate. I felt the same way in PDX, Seattle and BC.
BTW, one you could add to this list: Good drinking water. I know it doesn’t sound very important but I’ve been in San Francisco now for 3 weeks and the city water is TERRIBLE. So is LA’s. Prettymuch any of the larger cities in central and southern California have terrible drinking water. Portland’s is usually pretty damn good.
It’s great that you are getting thoughts from this post as well as from our discussion made at this place.

I miss Portland and the funny thing is that I’ve never even been there. Yes, fluoridated water is lame.

TAPTS — I just thought of one that might go on the Rules list: Rich’s Cigar Store. Any thoughts? I think its pretty damn cool.
Rich’s is awesome and definitely a place for all ages. I remember buying comics there when I was a boy.
i love rich’s… the only magazine selection worth a damn in this piddly town. i love the smell when i walk through the door.

It’s the lack of flouride. Tulsa fluoridates their water, it makes me miss Portland Bureau of the Waterworks.
#9 is missing… ?
Cripes, Jeff…how do u really feel? What did Jen do to you, give your bar a bad review?
Barfly sucks- Jen Lane is a total c**t.
I agree…I wouldn’t use that rag as toilet paper even if I were hard up.
