i am an authorized dealer ad am experience same problems. they say they are working on towers. but some areas speed and reliability is very fast and stays that way. why do you think at night it is slow. did over time they get the towers working properly? please keep me updated we just lauched dec 1st 2009. raleigh durham nc.

Clear wimax is a joke. I have NEVER had 5 lights…I get 2 just by plugging it in and I have to constantly move it around just to get 3. I can get 4 if I set it by an open window…but living in the NW an open window is not ideal for much of the year! Also, the number of lights lit up doesn’t seem to have any real indication of the speed…most of the time it’s like I’m on dial-up no matter how many lights are lit and then sometimes I actually have decent speed, again, any number of lights may be on. Don’t get roped in by the price folks! You’re better off spending more on a more reliable service…or just save money for multiple cups of coffee or tea and use public wifi.

trying clear for 6 months was the most ridiculous bunch of bullshit i have ever been a part of. i had the exact same experience. they suuuuuuuuck.

By the way, while I recognize that there are more people down in California it never ceases to amaze me how people think Portland isn’t congested, over-crowded, etc. I think they are in denial, because admitting reality would kill their rationalizations for moving here.

Lastly, is anyone else entertained by the irony of how Californians are creating the same thing here that they thought they were escaping by leaving California? Sorry, Portland isn’t going to cure your unhappiness, Reno55.

Personally, my health is a lot better now that I’m shopping almost exclusively at farmer’s markets, Whole Foods and the Korean place down the road from my house. I’ve lost weight, have more energy, and my chemical-allergic sensitivity reactions have been cut to about 10% of what they once were.

One thing I don’t miss about Portland is the drivers. They are slow and timid, when it comes to other cars. But they are real assholes to bicyclists. I had drivers yell at me and through garbage. It’s stupid also considering that they’re bad drivers. They couldn’t handle NYC traffic. If they had skill, they could save driving time while not being an asshole at the same time.

I live in Cambridge/Boston and drivers don’t get pissed at bicyclists here. And bicyclists here don’t wait at red lights or stop signs when there is no traffic.

“Clear wireless” haven’t used it as of yet but I agree with you about the comcast issues they do suck and it is really expensive. But in this day and age all cable companies like to over charge us what are you going to do? another thing about comcast that gets on my nerves is that the signal quality always seems to cut out all the time.

By the way new seasons market is way more expensive then whole foods from what I have seen. There is one in Beaverton where I live it’s on cedar hills blvd you can literally spend a fortune in that place and not buy anything.

I lived about a block from a Clear location too, over on 23rd, but when I looked up service areas, my apartment wasn’t covered. Ouch @ “worse than Comcast”. Although my Comcast service itself is adequate – it’s their customer service I can’t stand.

I used to love to ride. That’s until I moved to this mud pit. I’m not sure why but Portland bicyclists exude a gross sense of entitlement as well as a utter lack of common sense. For the most part they suck at two-wheeling in the urban setting. Not to mention how they drive like retarded old ladies with absolutely NO SENSE of shame. “Hey… let’s ride down the busiest street and put ourself and others in harms way.” Then they wonder WHY the get honked at, yelled at and run over by dump trucks.

I used to ride home from work and took every low volume side street I could work into my ride. I rode up Tillamook to 23rd… NOT Weidler. Rode the esplanade and kept to bike-designated lanes.

I give bike couriers a little slack downtown, but the jack-off suburbanites and the single gear hipster shitheads well.. Lets just say I would love to have one’s head on my hood as a warning other “slow deer”.

NOW… because of my bad decision moving to the tax nest, I am the heaviest I have ever been in m life.

Jersey’d cyclist riding in town… well… that’s another thing altogether… Fucking BOOMERS.
